CFB Esquimalt is located in Victoria, British Columbia and is located on the southern tip of Vancouver island. Esquimalt & Greater Victoria is known for its moderate climate, natural beauty, recreational sites and diverse beauty.

 

The city was first settled by Europeans in the early 1800s, and was incorporated in 1862 as Fort Victoria. As the capital city of BC. Victoria is home to the provincial Legislature and many government Ministry offices.  From 1843 to present, Victoria has been a naval city and today it is home of the Royal Canadian Navy's Pacific fleet. 

 

CFB Esquimalt is home to Maritime Forces Pacific and Joint Task Force,  now employing over  over 4,500 military members and over 2000 civilians. CFB Esquimalt adds a local impact of over a half BILLION million to the economy through their payroll, supplies, services and construction impact. It is also once of the largest employers in BC.  The Base is close to amazing golf courses that are open year-round, near amazing hiking and is only a few hours from world-class skiing and snowboarding at either Mount Washington or Whistler. The current population of Greater Victoria area is nearly 400,000 and the core municipalities are the city of Victoria, Oak bay,  Saanich, Colwood,  Langford, View Royal, Highlands, Metchosin ,Sooke, Central & North Saanich  and Sydney. Located south of the 49th parallel, Greater Victoria is the southernmost urban area in western Canada.
