Wainwright is a community of over 7,000, situated in east central Alberta, near the Battle River Valley and roughly two hours east of Edmonton. Nearly all the amenities of a modern city, with big box stores, dining, entertainment, but still retaining the atmosphere of a vibrant rural community.  Featuring excellent schools, extensive health care facilities and an unlimited array of year-round recreational opportunities.

 

Sports are abundant at the Peace Memorial Multiplex with its 2 NHLsized ice surfaces, an indoor running track and climbing wall. The attached Communiplex houses an indoor swimming pool, whirlpool, weight room, squash and racquetball courts as well as a performing arts theatre. Hockey, figure skating, curling, equestrian riding, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling are just a few of the winter-sports that keep our community warm throughout the winter season. In the summer, enjoy our many parks (including the Rotary Splash Park), playgrounds, outdoor sports venues, golf courses and even model-airplane fl ying which keep everyone from toddlers to seniors entertained throughout the season.

 

Wainwright offers a variety of cultural opportunities including our wellserviced library, Theatre 75 drama group, Encore-professional touring performances, Wainwright & District Museum, Rail Park, Buffalo Adventure tours and Arts Festival. We are full of events year-round including our annual Arts Festival in February and our Wainwright Stampede in June. The Stampede is 4 days of action packed family fun and entertainment. We have a wide array of Military Family services, events and support.
