Meet Helmets to Hardhats at the CFB Shilo Symposium on October 14
Considering a career in the skilled trades after military service? Visit the Helmets to Hardhats team at the Shilo MFRC Symposium on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
The event runs from noon to 6 p.m. at General Strange Hall, CFB Shilo. It is a chance to speak with Helmets to Hardhats Canada (H2H) about careers in the unionized construction industry and ask what a move into the trades could look like for you.
H2H helps Veterans, serving and transitioning Canadian Armed Forces members, Reservists and other eligible members of the military community explore training, apprenticeships and employment opportunities. Trades range from carpentry and electrical work to plumbing, ironworking and heavy equipment operation.
You do not need to have a trade picked out before starting the conversation. You could ask the H2H team which occupations suit your interests, what training is involved, or how to prepare for a career change. If you are posted to Shilo and thinking further ahead, it can be a useful first step in planning what comes after service.
